Said Rep. Loretta Sanchez:
“The proposal by Governor Brown, state legislators, and labor leaders to increase the California minimum wage to $15-an-hour is the right thing to do. Income inequality in the United States has become one of the greatest challenges our nation faces. That is why the majority of the American people and business owners nationwide support raising the minimum wage.
“Raising the minimum wage in California under the guidelines set by the agreed proposal is a responsible, measured approach that will help millions of workers; provide a boost to our State’s economy; and prevent sticker shock for businesses.
“I’m proud that California continues to set the pace for the rest of the nation.”

Are you also proud of being part of the California Anti-Business establishment? Some small businesses will have to close and larger ones will continue migrating to other states. Meanwhile, those with minimal job skills will get higher wages, but many less hours. Government has no business setting any kind of wage standards. Let the market pay based on a need for and the job skills of workers. If you want to do something constructive, how about better education programs and vocational training schools to teach those with no skills the things they need to get the better higher paying jobs?
Pat, everything you’ve uttered about what will happen if minimum wage rises has been debunked many times over historically. As far as better education programs and vocational training, perhaps you can change Republican minds on funding those very things
