Hot off the press from Anaheim council member Jordan Brandman:

Serving the residents of Anaheim in my first term on the Anaheim City Council has been both a privilege and an honor.

Together, we have worked hard to successfully restore public safety and important community services to pre-recession levels, build new parks and better roads, bring stakeholders together to create good-paying jobs for Anaheim residents, and revamp the City’s election process to implement district elections and strong neighborhood representation.

Public safety is a major priority for our community. A safe city begins with safe streets and neighborhoods. That is why we have hired more police and firefighters to ensure our residents and business community are well protected. To make Anaheim an even greater place to live and play, we have also expanded access at our libraries, parks, and community centers.

An important economic engine that has played a key role in helping to pull Orange County and Southern California out of our recent economic recession, the City of Anaheim has worked hard to prioritize economic development and job creation. A great example of that activity is our recent expansion of the Anaheim Convention Center. The project helped create more than 1,860 new good-paying jobs for local residents. World-class living, dining, and entertainment are coming to the Platinum Triangle, and West Anaheim is the center of a burgeoning renaissance.

Furthermore, over the last year, hundreds of Anaheim residents have engaged in the most thorough and democratic governance discussion our city has had since its founding in 1857. Just a few weeks ago, after a series of public hearings, hundreds of hours of testimony, and earnest conversations throughout our city, the City Council unanimously implemented a map of six city council districts that will guarantee equitable neighborhood representation, along with our directly elected mayor.

But we still have a lot of work to do!

Since 2008, I have done my best to faithfully represent all Anaheim residents as an Anaheim Union High School District Trustee and as an Anaheim City Council Member. Now, as we approach the November 2016 election, I am excited to announce that I will be a candidate for re-election within the city’s newly created 3rd Council District!

I am looking forward to a dynamic campaign — one where we can discuss how to make the city and neighborhoods of the 3rd Council District safe and strong, and how we can continue to create good jobs that recognize the skills and dignity of our residents. I am anxious to continue to work to make the 3rd Council District and the entire city a shining example of how residents, businesses, and public servants can come together to strengthen civic life in Orange County.

I hope you will join us at my campaign kick-off and birthday celebration on March 24th at the residence of Sherry and Mitchell Caldwell (invitation here and below), and learn more about the campaign at jordanbrandman.com. Thank you for your support.

            • Actually Tom, for a few years now, has asked me for advice. And Gail will talk to me whenever I call her. What you know about just about anything wouldn’t make a puddle in the corner of a thimble.

              • Tom Tait asks you for advice? Regularly? Oh that is rich. What does he ask advice on, aging scotch? The anti-abortion bill he’s co-sponsoring with Tita Smith?

Never lecture me about being a good Democrat while you’re advising staunch conservatives like Tom Tait.

                • Idiot. How do you think he often comes to more progressive positions than the council’s nominal Democrat? Partly because he listens to people like me and Moreno, and takes our arguments seriously.

Just pointing out how bizarrely divorced from reality you are, when you claim that a politician “tells me what to think.” Go make a fool of yourself now decrying some piece of satire you don’t get or something.

                • So to be clear Vern, you’re taking credit for Tom Tait voting “progressively” on some issues. I’m sure Greg takes credit for this too. Chec Tait’s voting record on most everything. It’s not progressive at all. Yet never a word of criticism over any of it. Here’s an easy one…the anti-abortion ballot measure he co-sponsors with Tita Smith undermines Roe v Wade….take that one on. You won’t.

                • I’m prochoice and totally disagree with Tom’s and Tita’s anti-abortion initiative; good thing it won’t pass, I’ll speak out against it anyway, and Tom knows I’m against it. I also couldn’t talk him into signing a Mayors’ letter for stronger gun control, which I got Pulido to sign (after HB Mayor Boardman told me about it.) Oh well, there’s reasons he’s a Republican and we’re not always gonna agree.

Now go write something else stupid. I do have a peg to hang your John Birch stupidity on, I can tie it in with the Klan desmadre in Anaheim yesterday.

  1. It will be interesting to see Jose Moreno bring together two groups with differing views: Eastside (Anna Drive) and ALVS (Guinea Lane).

Hey, maybe they can team with Joe Dunn who has experience with felons supporting him. Heck, recovering addicts for Joe. That has a nice ring to it!

  2. Well anyway, like I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted, I wonder how Gail likes it under the bus?

Oh, and google “When the Kleptos Caved.”

  3. If we are to believe the claimants who sued and settled with the city of Anaheim over the at-large electoral system by referencing deep ethnocentric voting patterns in Anaheim, incumbent Councilman Jordan Brandman wins the newly created 3rd city council district against college professor Jose F Moreno.

The 2014 city council candidate Jose F Moreno was the top vote getter in many precincts in the 3rd district but excluding the obvious dilution of non-latino candidates total votes. out numbering easily the Latino candidate votes, is hypocritical.

Without a 3rd district non-latino candidate with high name Identification (Gail is not going to be a spoiler) splintering the vote with Jordan Brandman, it’s no way Jose.
