We are pleased to learn that Congresswoman Linda Sanchez (CA-38), who represents a small portion of Orange County, has been elected to chair the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Congratulations Linda! In the announcement from Ms. Sanchez’s office she said;
“As the Hispanic population continues to grow in our country, I look forward to working with Congressional leaders and our CHC membership to elevate our voice in advocating for issues that are important to our community, including comprehensive immigration reform, voting rights, economic opportunity, and education.”
From the Congressional Hispanic Caucus press release on Tuesday:
Today, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) selected its leadership team for the 114th Congress. Congresswoman Linda Sánchez from California’s 38th Congressional District will chair the CHC and Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham, Congressman Joaquin Castro, and Congressman-Elect Ruben Gallego will join her on the leadership team.
“I thank my colleagues for entrusting me with the responsibility to lead the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. I look forward to working with Congressional leaders and our CHC membership to elevate our voice in advocating for issues important to our community, including comprehensive immigration reform, voting rights, economic opportunity, and education. Our newly-elected CHC board is energized and ready to get to work for our communities in the next session of Congress,” said Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-38).
“I am delighted to pass on the baton to Congresswoman Linda Sánchez, whom I am confident, will do a great job leading the CHC and who has my unconditional support. The Congresswoman is one of the hardest working Members I know, and she has a great vision for leading the CHC in the 114th Congress. Congresswoman Linda Sánchez, along with Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham, Congressman Joaquin Castro, and Congressman-Elect Ruben Gallego, will make a strong and dynamic leadership team. I thank my colleagues for the opportunity to have served as Chairman and look forward to continuing my work in the CHC,” said current CHC Chairman Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15).
During the 113th Congress, Congresswoman Sánchez served as CHC Second Vice-Chair and as CHC Civil Rights Task Force Chair. She currently serves as Ranking Member on the House Ethics Committee and as a member of the House Ways & Means Committee.
Congresswoman Sánchez was the first Latina to serve on the House Judiciary Committee and on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee.

Ha! – *Like*
However, she is the smarter of the 2 sisters.
OC Insider, It is a big deal when women in congress rise to leadership positions both in their respective political party caucuses and in other member caucuses. This happens so rarely in a male dominated body like congress, that is significant when a woman is placed in such a role by her colleagues. Hopefully some day this won’t be a big effing deal for a woman to achieve this level of leadership, but right now it is. Congresswoman Sanchez was raised in Orange County and represents a portion of Orange County. That fact makes it significant enough to mention in this publication.
junior, I’m sure Linda will take that as a compliment. But on the matter of her sister’s intelligence, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez is also quite accomplished and that speaks well towards conclusive evidence of her intelligence. I’m quite certain she could hold her own in and discussion with you. My guess however is that she would wipe the floor with you, just for good measure.
I have had many conversations with Congresswoman Sanchez (Loretta) – we generally come out pretty even.
