Will Register Brass be Delivering Your Sunday Paper?

OCRegister

Hat tip to Jim Romensko’s excellent newspaper blog, the Orange County Register is now asking newsroom employees to help deliver Sunday papers in exchange for a $150 Visa Gift Card.  This is on the heels of asking newsroom staff to man the phones for customer service calls, likely from angry subscribers still wondering where their paper is.

For Aaron Kushner, Eric Spitz and the rest of the Register brass — now is your time to lead by example.  Get your butts out of bed and deliver papers in the wee hours of the morning.  And drag along some senior executives from Freedom Communications Management team too.

In the mid-1990s, Michael Moore had a TV show called “TV Nation,” and in one of the first episodes, he challenged CEOs of major companies to perform mundane tasks.   The “CEO Challenge” – Moore called on the CEOs of IBM, Palmolive, Philip Morris, and Ford Motor Company and asked them to perform simple tasks using their respective company’s products. Alexander Trotman of Ford was the only CEO to take part and he changed the oil on a Ford Explorer.

Time for Kushner and Fitz to deliver papers.

  1. Dan, I see we do in fact have something in common. Today, for the second day in a row no one on my block has gotten our Register. Even after I called to complain, still no paper. Would cancel my subscription but I have paid for six months in advance. I never had that problem when they used independent carriers who always got the paper her on time. Get it together Orange County Register or I will be switching to the L.A. Times.
