In the spirit of celebrating leadership in response to new challenges for changing times, New Leaders Council, the country’s premiere leadership training program, today announced the winners of this year’s 40 Under 40 Leadership Awards, which includes honors for two of Orange County’s very own progressive leaders, Dr. Faisal Qazi and Nicholas Anas.
“We announce with enormous pride that two of the 40 under 40 recipients come from and currently work in the Orange County area – which has historically been known for its conservative ideologies. Both Nick and Faisal have been instrumental in building a movement to help this county be more socially responsible and civically engaged. In this past year alone, Nick, in his capacity as Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Orange County, was able to mobilize and organize a community of over half a million registered Democrats. Faisal, in addition to his day job as a Neurologist, heads a foundation that provides medical access to uninsured patients. They are a true testament to our mission to passionately serve our community. It is an honor and a privilege to know our awardees and support their work.”

NLC Chairman Chris Kelly today announced the award winners from his home in California. Kelly is also Director of Loyal3, former Privacy Officer for Facebook and formerly a candidate for Attorney General of California
“Winners of past NLC 40 Under 40 Leadership Awards include women and men across the country who are taking control of the future and shaping it to fit their own ideals of a better, more inclusive society. This year’s winners are an invaluable addition to those ranks and are truly reflective of a new direction in American business, politics and industry. I stand with our entire NLC community in applauding the accomplishments of these 40 incredible individuals and in thanking them for their inevitable contributions to a brighter future,” said NLC Chairman Chris Kelly.
Each year, NLC presents the 40 Under 40 Leadership Awards as a way to honor the work of young, professional leaders who exemplify our organization’s ideal of political entrepreneurship in their efforts to make a positive difference in their communities.
First given in 2008, the award recognizes achievements in four categories: Political Leadership, Media Leadership, Advocacy, and Entrepreneurship. Honorees are nominated by their peers and other members of the NLC community and this year’s winners join past honorees as the best and brightest young leaders in America.
