Amante’s Comedic Turn for the State of the City Lunch is a Joke

David Letterman can breathe easy today.  It’s seldom I’ll watch a video that makes me throw up in my mouth a bit, but you’ll have to watch Tustin Mayor Jerry Amante do his best “David Letterman impression” (with a laugh track!!!) to promote the June 2 “State of the City ” Luncheon hosted by the Tustin Chamber of Commerce.

Watch the video here. And keep a barf bag nearby.

Jerry promises the State of the City address will be both fun and informative, and then asks if that’s possible?  You’ll only see the words “Amante” and “fun” in this sentence.

I’m hoping Jerry can inform the citizens of Tustin why the city has spent so much on lawyers under his watch, why he has such a bee in his bonnet for Old Town, and why he’ll allow applause in public comments when it’s praise for him but shuts down any other sort of demonstration when it’s not all peaches and cream.

As for Jerry’s comedic stylings, it’s clearly an attempt to soften his image and have Tustin residents get to know him.  I don’t think most residents of Tustin know the Mayor, but they can RECALL him.  Don’t quit your day job Mr. Amante.  At least not until the residents collect enough signatures to gdet the recall on the ballot.

Here’s the details on the State of the City.  If I can sum it up in one word, it’s “divided.”

  1. Having to pay money to eat a lunch and then listen to boss Amante would result in me throwing up a decent lunch.

  2. Just got word the Recall Petition was rejected due to “margin spacing” issues. Are you kidding me? What’s next, a rejection for using a serif-based typeface? And extra space? A semi-colon instead of a common (and colon is what I think of when it comes to these clownshoes).
