Over the weekend Supervisor John Moorlach fired off a premptive Op-Ed in the Orange County Register attacking public employees and blaming their pension benefits for budget shortfalls and what the headline to his commentary describes as a “Formula for disaster.” Moorlach goes on with this misleading argument against defined benefit retirement plans.

OCTA Seeks Public Feedback On Proposed Measure M2 Conservation Plan

The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is seeking public feedback through Jan. 10 on a conservation plan that will examine habitat and identify measures to protect that habitat and species in Orange County. The proposed Natural Community Conservation Plan/Habitat Conservation Plan/Master Streambed Alteration Agreement streamlines the freeway improvement permitting process under state and federal endangered species acts and results in more efficient and effective use of freeway mitigation funding.

District refuses to negotiate, La Habra teachers will litigate and return to classrooms Thursday

The four-day strike is over and teachers will return to their classrooms on Thursday. Even though they reported for duty Tuesday and are willing to work Wednesday, the district has instead chosen to waste an additional $50,000 in unnecessary substitute pay – adding yet one more fallacy to the spurious claim that their actions against La Habra’s teachers are substantiated by fiscal necessity.
