Rep. Barney Frank Headlines 2010 Truman Dinner for DPOC

According to a Tweet from the DPOC, Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank will be the keynote speaker for the 16th annual Harry S Truman dinner for the Democratic Party of Orange County.

See the Tweet here.  Not a lot of details to report just yet.

Barney Frank is a fearless, tell-it-like-it-is Democrat who does his homework. As a former Massachusetts resident, I can tell you voters in his district love him and how well he represents their interests.  He’ll certainly keep Truman dinner attendees on their toes.

  1. Dan, have to give you guys credit for picking them. Didn’t think you could do much worse than last years keynote speaker, Nancy Pelosi. It seems that lurking at the bottom of the barrel, you found Washington’s King of Perverts, the architect of the housing disaster, the one, the only, Barney Frank. Dan, even you, as the great Spin-master, had to reach deep for the words “fearless” and “does his homework?” You did hit the nail on the head however, on how he brings the “Pork” home to the poor folks in his ghetto district. I am sure he will have some interesting things to say about how he and his colleagues are doing everything possible to redistribute our wealth and in the process, bankrupt America.

Wonder if the Tea Party People will be there with their T-shirts, like last year. I might even think about showing up to get a T-shirt and pay my disrespect to Barney. I hope Beth Krom has better taste than to do a photo op with this guy. I know she has to be there to rub elbows with the Party elite, but if she is still pretending to be a moderate, a photo of her with Frank in the Orange County Register, will not get her any votes.

Not to change the subject, but I expect the see the “Irvine News and Views,” back in action before long, competing with you on who can paint the best face on Batmans favorite enemy, “The Joker (Larry Agran)”. From what I am sensing, the Conservative slate will again be without much traction (seems to be a trend) and it should be another cakewalk for Larry, even in a Republican year. As they say, “Just another day in Paradise.”

  2. Pat —
Barney Frank is gay; he’s not a pervert.

The folks in Newton, Chestnut Hill and Wellesley Mass will be shocked to know their toney homes are in a ghetto district.

Aside from bringing in any pork, he still doesn’t bring as much bacon home as Ken Calvert does, but he represents the ideals of those in his district. Things like equal rights, healthcare reform, banking reform.

Perhaps you can explain to Jeff Lalloway that giving 5 Million to IUSD doesn’t solve long term education budget shortfalls; we need a parcel tax in the city. But Teabaggers are Taxed Enough Already.

And do read Bill Spaldings post from the other day that shows most of our problems still stem from two wars and Bush tax cuts that did little to stimulate the economy or grow jobs.

    • Dan, am aware that Barney Frank is gay and that is a non-issue in my book. What is an issue is, some of his antics, including shacking up with a guy who ran a prostitution ring, of young men out of their apartment. To believe that Barney Frank didn’t sample some of the product is not realistic. It would be like having Bill Clinton move into the Playboy Mansion with Hugh Hefner, expecting him to wear a chastity belt. So in my limited vocabulary the term “Pervert” means a person committing any sexual act considered to be abnormal. If a prostitution ring in your home is not on the abnormal side, then I am not sure what would be?

The reference to the “ghetto” was a tongue in cheek referral to the massive amounts of “Pork” Frank has poured into his wealthy District. Ken Calvert is one of those guys who is part of the problem with the Republican Party. Until Republicans get rid of guys like that, they will continue to loose ground with the Conservative movement (Tea Party Types). Trust me when I say, Calvert’s time will come. We will see how impressed with both the Democrat and Republican big spenders the people of America are in about three months.

Jeff Lalloway and I parted company a while back over his inability to distinguish between the responsibility of Municipal Government and School District government. He was trying to buy votes from parents with kids in the schools, with his 5 million dollar offer. Jeff merely showed his true colors and that he is just another Republican in Name Only. What Jeff didn’t know was the the Agranistas already had a plan in place to fund the upcoming campaign, just as they have done in the past. Their School Initiative, being put on the ballot, gives Agran an ability to bring in his Independent Committee, probably the Irvine News and Views group to support it. Of course, with no campaign contribution limits, big money will or has already been squeezed from Agran supporters, the “no bid” contract people and vendors at the Great Park, to support the initiative. Then out come the weekly junk mailers printed in living color, lots of photos and often confusing readers into thinking they are a legitimate media product. One page will be devoted to the Initiative and the rest of the paper to anointing the Agranistas and attacking any opponent who look like a threat. This has been the Agran M/O in the past with Hometown Voters Guide and in the last election Irvine News and Views. This is why Lalloway and the other Republican candidates will get beaten badly, even though the Agranistas are carrying some baggage over the horrendous mismanagement at the Great Park. You guys could well end up with a 4-1 Council. Until the City of Irvine goes bankrupt, or the Agranistas are finally investigated and indicted, it appears that there is no slowing down the “Agranista Machine.”

P.S. Rather than give away City General Fund or Reserve money to the schools, I agree that a Parcel Tax is the best approach and should again be put on the ballot. I for one would support, campaign and vote for it, as long as it was designated to go to classrooms and teachers.

  3. “King of Perverts,” Pat? That is pretty damned offensive. I think you owe the rest of us an apology for saying something so vile.

    • Howard, sorry but no apology on Barney Frank. I would be very surprised if “Pervert” is the worst name he has ever been called. Perception, is always in the eye of the beholder. You see Frank as a hero and I see him otherwise. You Liberals, saw George Bush as the “Devil’s Incarnate,” and I saw him as just another political hack serving the Special Interest Groups. With very few exceptions, there will never be agreement between Liberals and Conservatives on issues impacting the future of this country. Right now, you hold the gold and he who has the gold rules. After November 2010, that could well change. Bottom line is, that it is all right to agree to disagree.

With me, you may not like my position or comments, but you will always know where I stand. I look forward to getting my Barney Frank T-shirt and mingling with the Tea Party folks who will show up outside the dinner, to pay their respect to him.
