Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Republican Leader John Boehner announced Wednesday House Member appointments to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors.  The Speaker has appointed Congressman Jared Polis (D-CO) to the Board, and reappointed Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (D-CA).  Upon the recommendation of Republican Leader Boehner, the Speaker also reappointed Congressman Doug Lamborn (R-CO).

“I am particularly pleased to appoint Jared Polis to the Board of Visitors given the strong ties between his congressional district and the academy near Colorado Springs and his expertise in the field of education coupled with his commitment to our national security,” said Speaker Pelosi.  “Loretta Sanchez will continue her service to the board, bringing her leadership and strong background in issues pertaining to our national security.”

“It is with great pleasure that I nominate Congressman Doug Lamborn of Colorado Springs to serve another term on the Air Force Academy Board of Visitors,” Republican Leader Boehner said.  “Doug is a friend to our men and women in uniform and one of their strongest advocates in Washington. As a member of this board, he will help ensure the Academy is fulfilling its mission to prepare and motivate our young men and women to serve and assume leadership in our United States Air Force.”

“These appointments reflect the diversity of our country and will continue to bring bold and innovative thinking to the Board of Visitors,” Pelosi said.  “All of these Members of Congress are well-suited to assist the leadership of the Air Force Academy in training the next generation of Airmen and Airwomen.”
