Washington D.C. – Gay marriages are now recognized in the nation’s capitol after the city council voted unanimously to recognize same sex marriages as legal.
Openly gay D.C. Councilman David Catania, was quoted by the Washington Post, “This is the march toward human rights and equality. This is not the march toward special rights. This is the equality march and that march is coming here.â€
The vote came as an amendment to an underlying bill that could see passage in a matter of weeks.  Many expect the council will soon take up legislation to allow same-sex couples to legally marry in the District.
I think that that above statement is true and I am so glad that gay people are finally recognised. This is truely a a joyous moment in the history of human beings, a history that has been filled with nothing but trauma, abuse and neglect for the gay community. Even though there will still be a negative stigma attached to being gay by society, atlest now we are on our way to rectifying our past mistakes.
I know its not on topic, but I thought people should be warned. I was on Orange Juice this morning, and my computer system warned me that the website was infected with Spyware. This concerns me and I hope my computer is not infected. I thought people need to know this before going to Orange Juice,.
Truth — I will agree with your call on this one. A visitto OJ via my Mac basically shuts down my machine.
Unfortunately, because DC is a vassal state to the Federal government, Congress will have to approve this, and I can just see the fight coming from the Republican. Don’t get me wrong, this is great, but it’s far from a done deal, or over. It’s going to get really, really ugly.
