State Budget – Work Those Phones!

As you are reading this, our worthy compatriots are working the phones to Sacramento to tell our electeds that they support  Freddie Krueger’s budget which will leave our government in  useless shreds.    Our worthy compatriots are very good at this – they are mobilized and reminded by talk radio and their websites.

Call these people today.  And tomorrow.  Go on their websites and send emails.  Do this every day until we get what we need.  Save this list to keep using it.

  1. I sent an email and called DeVore’s office asking him to support the budget deal. Why do I think that if every person he represents did the same thing and aksed him to vote the same way, he’d votew No with his party instead of yes with his constituents.

  2. I respect your desire to push this budget deal but…
Don’t you think it’s reasonable to learn to actually live within a budget? All of us have to at home, why should the state be any different? I want everyone to get what they need too, but when the state is out of money all of us shouldn’t be looked at as if we were an all you can eat buffet that somehow is eternally renewed. At some point you can only take so much water out of a well without it running dry. How many metaphors do I need to use before the point hits home?

Remember that this economy is really messed up and that most of us, who still have jobs, are already struggling to pay the bills. I want a retirement plan too, but my 401K is I the toilet, my house value down and my water bill, trash, cable, phone, are all up and there doesn’t look like any bonuses are coming anytime soon to help that and businesses sure as heck aren’t giving out raises. It’s not nice or pretty, but the legislature has been playing fast and loose with our money for too long, they need to understand that we are not ready tellers with unlimited balances.

They have not passed a reasonable budget in years, this one is no different, it’s too much, too big a tax increase and it isn’t balanced without the increases. Just my humble opinion, from someone that has had to balance a home budget, based on reality, not desires for many years.
