GARDEN GROVE, CA – Orange County State Legislators are invited and attending a critical budget forum in Garden Grove on Friday, February 13th, 2009 with the community of Orange County to expose the devastation the proposed cuts will have on people with disabilities, elderly, and the people that serve them. Experts and recipients of human services, unemployment, housing, and education give testimony to these vital issues that could be cut or lost if the Governors budget proposal gets passed. The Services Employees International Union (SEIU), United Domestic Workers Association (UDWA), Classified Schools Employees Association (CSEA), and the Dayle McIntosh Center (DMC) will call on Orange County Legislators to oppose the Governors proposal that will result in hospitalization, institutionalization, unemployment, homelessness, and unequal access to education.
This forum is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Saint Callistus Catholic Church, 12921 Lewis Street, Garden Grove, California. The forum is expected to draw up to 600 people and all Orange County elected officials have been invited to hear the facts, testimony, and answer questions concerning people with disabilities and older adults on related issues.
Access for hearing & visually impaired and wheelchair access will be available. Translators will also be available to assist Spanish and Vietnamese language speakers.
