Senator John McCain has suspended his presidential campaign to head back to Washington “to deal with the financial crisis.” McCain has called for a postponement of this Friday’s debate with Senator Barack Obama as a result.
This is laughable.
First, McCain’s campaign manager is outed for his lobbying firm’s continued acceptance of $15,000 a month from Fannie Mae through last August, despite denials from the Campaign.
McCain is still trying to position himself as a Wall Street regulator after a Senate career dedicated to deregulation.
And he can’t turn to his VP candidate for help because she has little economic experience other than accepting massive earmarks from Congress.
This campaign is imploding rapidly. But the bright side is, better to implode now than as president.
This is a move to not debate Obama. It will not surprise me if McCain calls off all the debates.
