Dear Dan,
Vincent Sarmiento was appointed to the Santa Ana City Council in January, 2007. Since then he has taken the lead on important issues of economic development, public safety and city finances. A lawyer and businessman, Vince Sarmiento is exactly the kind of leader Santa Ana needs. He’s an intelligent, well educated professional whose life and family reflect a new model for Santa Ana’s future. In short, he deserves your support.
Please join me in supporting one of Orange County’s brightest stars!

In Unity,
Frank Barbaro
Chair, Democratic Party of Orange County
It’s been more than a year since he was appointed to the council. In that time, I’ve received, regularly and on-time, a monthly newsletter containing newsworthy items, some accomplishments, notices of upcoming events, helpful hints for dealing with the city, and other fun and noteworthy items — from Michele Martinez. Oh, I live in his ward, not Michele’s
Coincidentally, I also received a similar invitation, though mine came from the councilmember. It’s exactly the second communication I’ve received from him. The first was also an invitation to a similarly priced fundraiser.
Now, I have nothing against him. I’m sure he’s a good and decent person. But if he wants some of my hard-earned money, he needs to tell me what he’s done and what he plans to do. And he needs to do it, not the party chair. And he should have done it before asking for money.
But Bill, a mass email from the county chair goes a long way in showing guys in Irvine that Sarmiento is accomplished and seasoned and therefore worthy of your dollars.
Regular communication, problem-solving, community visibility, and constituent service are not signs of worthiness.
With all due respect to your lovable self, you almost had me going for a minute. Cheers!
Dan,
The Santa Ana City Clowncil is a complete joke! Sarmiento is no better than the rest of the Clowncil Members. Really Dan, if he was a Republican you would be calling for his head!
Art – you get the government you deserve. Move if Santa Ana is that bad.
