MSM Musings on Memorial Day

So I get up early Sunday morning and flip on the news and there is Flash Report publisher Jon Flieschman on Channel 4 KNBC telling viewers that Barack Obama is going to raise taxes on all Americans.  Ah, no he’s not.  Only on those Americans in the upper 2 percent of all taxpayers.  But repeat a lie often enough and….

In this morning’s Register, Marty Wisckoll has a fascinating post in his talk about media bias before the Balboa Bay Republican Women’s Federation.  The two questions of the day: why didn’t the press report that Senator Obama’s middle name is “Hussein” more? And why didn’t the media report more on his early education.  So these high society gals are educated enough to know to ask about the smears but not enough to ferret out the truth. 

First off, Obama attended public schools in Indonesia and not a madrasa which is more closely associated with radical Islam.  Secondly, the ladies refused to entertain Marty’s counter question on John McCain’s middle name, instead focusing on “…what Hussein symbolizes.”

Ladies, Hussein means “handsome one” or “beautiful one.” Just because there is a negative association with former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein doesn’t change the meaning of the name.  And in case the ladies didn’t know, McCain’s middle name is Syndey (with the “Y” I believe).
