Orange County’s campaign finance watchdog Shirley Grindle (OC Register photo) contacted me this evening to let me know that she has sent a memo to Xavier Martinez, Hoa Van Tran’s new campaign treasurer, requesting that he clean up the reports and refund any contributions that may exceed the $1,600 TinCup limit.
Specifically she is referring to the cash contribution of $1,000 and in-kind contribution of $1,600 that the campaign has received from Viet Hai Ngoai Television Corp. In addition she questions the contributions from Saigon Broadcasting Television Network and Asia Entertainment which have the same business address and who’s contributions of $1,600 each may need to be aggregated.
Shirley also raised a number of technical violations in the completion of the reports including a missing address, missing subtotals, and missing report period dates on each page of the report.
As I previously reported, there are other errors and questionable items on, and missing from, the most recent report. It is doubtful that Hoa Van Tran will correct anything before the election. But I guess in this race, anything is possible.
Get em Shirley!
