CA-47: What a Kickoff for Loretta Sanchez!

Llja1

Wow! Yesterday was an amazing day for OC Democrats. In a rare joint appareance, several Democratic elected leaders turned out for a very special kickoff for Loretta Sanchez, our favorite Democratic Congresswoman. State Senator Lou Correa, Assemblyman Jose Solorio, and many more special guests and local community activists all came to show their support for OC’s hardest working member of Congress.

As soon as I arrived at Anaheim’s lovely Ponderosa Park, I ran into quite a few familiar faces. OCYD Political Director Mitch Star joined with the campaign staff to make sure the event went off without a hitch. “Commie Girl” Rebecca Schoenkopf came to show her support and remind us all why we miss her witty observations of OC living. Senator Lou Correa came wearing an Angels uniform to show off his local OC pride. Oh yes, and how could I forget mentioning some of my favorite local elected officials? Santa Ana Council Member Michele Martinez always inspires me with her life story and her commitment to working for Santa Ana’s working people, while Fullerton Mayor Sharon Quirk reminded me how that city’s so blessed to have two awesome Democratic women on the city council.

There were many more great local Democratic leaders at Ponderosa Park, but I don’t want to keep you waiting for the main attraction any longer… Loretta Sanchez was fantastic! She never ceases to amaze me with her depth of knowledge on the local issues that we care about. While other politicians may take cheap pot shots at “pork barrel spending”, Loretta Sanchez explained so well how she’s working hard to bring bad our federal tax dollars to work hard for us. Whether it’s state of the art water treatment technology to improve our drinking water quality while simultaneously conserving one of our most precious and least available natural resources or investing in badly needed infrastructure to ensure that OC is ready for for the next great natural disaster, Loretta Sanchez never forgets who she’s working for and why we keep reelecting her.

Oh, and how can I forget the people? The people came from all over the 47th Congressional District to South Anaheim to make sure that Democrats win Central OC this fall, and that great Democrats like Loretta Sanchez will be able to continue working for us next year. If it weren’t for all the local activists like you and me that do all the hard ground work and reach out to our neighbors, we wouldn’t even be talking about all these elected Democrats today.

So did you find yesterday’s Loretta Sanchez campaign kickoff as aweome as I did? And would you like to do your part to make Central OC bluer while ensuring that all our favorite elected Democrats keep serving us? Contact Marc Sussman at Loretta Sanchez’s campaign at (714) 839-4431 or volunteerforlorettaATyahooDOTcom. Trust me… You won’t regret it.

And in the mean time, I’ll leave you with a few more photos from yesterday. Please enjoy them. Oh yeah, and don’t forget to stay active. 😉

  1. Loretta Sanchez was awesome, I was so impressed with her and she was lovely to talk to, I’m honored to have met her.

I really loved hearing from local electeds on how Loretta encouraged them to run and helped them get elected, it was a true testament to her commitment to Democrats in Orange County. She’s just amazing!

And I loved what she had to say about the water projects she’d been able to help fund with Federal dollars, our tax dollars coming back to our County. Water is a huge issue for not just Orange County but all of California and the world. Water will be and is a crisis that not many talk about, I am so glad that she’s so far ahead on the issue.

  2. Heather-

Wow, so you were there? I’m sorry I didn’t say hi. Oh yes, and Loretta’s amazing grasp of local issues is one of the reasons I’m so glad to live in this district. If only we had more local Congresscritters like Loretta… 😉

  3. Andrew,

The whole family was there! Charlotte was not in the best mood though, she’s not very excited about big crowds and gets overwhelmed. Although she loves handing out Gary’s cards and was very helpful when we did our first precinct walk Saturday evening!
