This just came in from Gautam Dutta, Executive Director of the Asian American Action Fund. It looks to me like more good news for the Ed Chau for Congress campaign. Ed’s snatched yet another good endorsement, and he’s showing us how far he can really go. Congrats, Team Chau! 🙂
AAA-Fund Endorses Edwin Chau and Jay Goyal
Washington DC, May 1, 2008-
The Asian American Action Fund has endorsed Edwin Chau and Jay Goyal in their respective races for U.S. Congress and the Ohio House.
“Chau and Goyal are experienced leaders who have proven they can prevail in the face of long odds,” said AAA-Fund Executive Director Gautam Dutta. “We have every confidence in their success,” he added.
Chau has a strong shot at unseating GOP Rep. Gary Miller, who represents Southern California’s 42nd Congressional District. Chau is currently an elected school board member for the Montebello Unified School District, a mostly Latino district that is the third largest in Los Angeles County. Although the district leans Republican, Chau’s experience working across the aisle and the district’s large Asian American and Latino population will give him a major boost.
Chau’s opponent, Gary Miller, has also been weakened by a reported FBI investigation into his land dealings. Chau faces two challengers in the June 3, 2008 Democratic primary. […]
The AAA-Fund is a national Democratic political organization whose goal is to increase the voice of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) in local, state and federal government, by encouraging AAPIs to volunteer on campaigns, raise money for candidates, and run for political office. In January, the Fund endorsed Ashwin Madia for the U.S. House of Representatives, Swati Dandekar for Iowa State Senate, and Wilma Chan, Paul Fong, and Warren Furutani for the California State Legislature.
Good for Ed. He is really securing a lot of endorsements.
With name ID being really important in this primary I hope he will be putting up signs soon. I haven’t seen any signs for his primary opponents yet but I saw a few Gary Miller signs this weekend.
Congrats Jay! Definitely a Jay Goyal fan. Can’t wait till he’s running for president! 🙂
What is the word on the two Dem challengers to Chau in the primary? Looking forward to actually casting a vote this time (I left it blank rather than vote for miller in 06).
