During last years special election to fill the First District Supervisoral seat Janet Nguyen and Trung Nguyen slugged it out in a crowded field to see who would replace Lou Correa. The campaign had a rather nasty tone to it and Janet and Trung placed the Latino community at the center of their battle.
Each campaign sent out mailers in which they viciously attacked Latino immigrants. In one of those mailers Janet opined that Vietnamese immigrants came to America “the right way”, insinuating that Latino’s somehow have not. To this day Janet has never apologized for the vile and despicable mailer. So why then is Janet being given a free pass by local Democrats in her bid for re-election?
Rather than coming to the support of the lone Democrat in the race, Hoa Van Tran, most local Dems have decided to sit this one out. I realize that we were all hoping that Joe Dunn would run against Janet and we were all eager to get on board with his campaign. But Joe chose not to run and rather than going with a “plan B” and perhaps supporting Hoa folks have chosen to support Janet by proxy.
They have put their hatred of Michael Schroeder and Van Tran ahead of their love for the Democratic Party. Rathing than seizing upon an opportunity to make in-roads into the Vietnamese community, which has been solidly Republican for close to 30 years, many have chosen to canabalize our own. Rather than holding Janet Nguyen accountable for her actions in the last campaign and for her record on the Board of Supervisors many have decided to take aim at the fellow Democrats.
I am not privy to any inside information about the situation involving Paul Lucas, Van Tran, Dina Nguyen and Michael Schroeder. If Paul was only getting involved to help the Schroeder Cabal win then I agree that this was wrong. But just because Paul did this, it does not excuse the fact that now we have Democrats essentially aiding Janet Nguyen. Why are “loyal” Democrats running to Jubal and Red County with information that could destroy the campaign of Democrat Hoa Van Tran? How is activity like that any different than Paul working with the Reeps?
If these folks felt that there was some wrongdoing on the part of Hoa’s campaign they should have reported it to the proper authorities. Running to partisan bloggers who revel in trying to take down the Democratic Party was not the proper move to make. I agree that all campaigns must follow the rules, but using a partisan blog to expose them is just flat wrong. Go to the FPPC, not Jubal.
It is sad to see local Democrats going after our own. Sometimes it looks like we can’t get out of our own way to save ourselves. The First District seat should be rightfully in the hands of a Democrat, but thanks to what looks like a “hidden agenda” we will simply hand it to the Republican’s. Worse yet, we are aiding the Republican’s in their quest.
Let me remind my fellow Democrats that Janet Nguyen’s positions are not unlike those that we on the left routinely oppose. She has voted lock, stock and barrel with the wants of those in the Lincoln Club and the GOP itself. She has been on the wrong side of most every issue that has come before her on the Board of Supervisors and just like the “Trannies” she bashes the Latino community for sport.
Janet and Dina are simply different sides to the same coin. Rather than stand up and fight both of them many Democrats have chosen to aid Janet by proxy. This is wrong. This is the same Janet Nguyen that bashed Latino immigrants, the same Janet Nguyen that supported Chriss Street, the same Janet Nguyen that voted to cut social service spending. How does this make her any diiferent from Dina Nguyen?
Shame on local Dems that attack our own instead of Janet Nguyen. Shame on local Dems that have turned a blind eye to her slurs attacking the Latino community. Shame on the local Dems giving her a free pass.

Hmmm, if I remember correctly, you were pissing and moaning about how Lou Broke his promise to stay in that seat and then bemoaned the fact that Tom Umbergh will be the next at bat for that seat. But did you actually do anything or did you just piss and moan? Unlike you I was out walking precincts.
In fact during that Senate Race against Tran Surrogate Lynn Daucher, I believe you did nothing more that piss and moan about the whole thing. While I secured pledge cards for the California Young Democrats from the Operating Engineers FOR FREE. That program garnered hundreds of Votes NOT ONLY FOR Lou Correa, but I secured so MANY that half of the Cards were sent up north to help the Candidate that eventually beat Dirty Dick POMBO!

But this contest has not been about Republican vs Democrat ever since Joe Dunn decided not to run too late for any other creible Democrat to launch a challenge. Hoa is a registered Democrat and I believe that he has been since he initially registered to vote. I am supporting Hoa because in speaking to him I found somebody that supports working class values and who won’t bash Latino immigrants simply to get votes.

I am supporting the Democrat in the race who has publicly stated that he supports amnesty and has made it clear that he wants to build bridges between all communities, even the Vietnamese and Latino communities.
This in no way alligns me with Van, Dina, Mike or the racist rhetoric. Is Janet’s racist rhetoric less despicable? I know Pedroza will never condemn her but surely you will.

I ask that you view the video footage from the Young Democrats meeting in which I asked him where he stood on a woman’s right to choose. He refused to even answer the question and completely went around it. Later on I was told he was not aware of the issue “a woman’s right to choose” and therefore misunderstood the question. Either A) he is a liar, B) He has been living under a rock for 30 years or C) He is anti-choice like the Van Tran cabal.
It is in OUR party platform that DEMOCRATS are PRO-CHOICE. The issue of a woman’s right to choose is one of the most controversial issues in modern times, EVERYONE HAS HEARD OF THIS ISSUE! In fact an Olympic Games has been bombed over this issue. I think a college educated man like Hoa Van Tran would know about this issue.
I know you will come back and claim that is not an issue he deals with on the BOS, but he has been claiming we should support him BECAUSE he is a DEMOCRAT and BECAUSE he believes in DEMOCRATIC VALUES like us. As for Lou’s campaigns anybody who knows, understands that the party has never really supported him until after he wins. Everybody jumped on Loretta’s bandwagon only after she unseated Dornan so thats no real test of democratic dedication.
Think it was Claudio who years ago posted about OC dems perchant for supporting national causes and foregoing local elections where their help would really be an impact. So calling out Chris or Sean is a “red herring” (to us Matt’s phrase). Just tell the truth and rise above the crap your currently wallowing in.

OCEA endorsed and supported Lou in almost every race as far back as I can remember and Chris has always done his part for all of OCEAs endorsed candidates.
