Well Â… I am different from Mike Carona. Maybe we had some of the same qualities. He certainly has some qualities I benefited from in watching him be the sheriff. But I think I will bring my own qualities to the office, and somewhere in between I will try to make the best sheriff I can.
Yesterday, The Register sat down to discuss with new Interim Sheriff Jack Anderson. They discussed his experience in the Sheriff’s Department, and how he rapidly arose over the last few months to get where he’s at now. Oh yes, and Anderson wants all of us to know that he is different from Former Sheriff Mike Carona.
So what do you think about our new Interim Sheriff? Does he seem different from Mike Carona? Does he seem like the one who will be able to restore integrity and good morale in the Sheriffs’ Department? And will he be able to rid of the Sheriffs’ Department of all the scandal left behind by Carona?
I want to hear what you have to say about the new Sheriff in town. It seems like all we know about him now is that he jumped up from middle management quite quickly over the last year, and that he happens to be a member of the OC GOP Central Committee. Oh yes, and Mike Carona handpicked Jack Anderson to succeed him. So just how different is Anderson from Carona?
Go ahead. Make my day. Fire away! 🙂
All I need to know about Anderson is that he is Carona’s choice to succeed him.
Why is there no talk of a special election for the voters to decide who should replace Carona as Sheriff instead of the all-Republican Board of Supervisors?

Good point.

You know, I agree with you there. I’d personally prefer a special election to this unfair appointment. But unfortunately, the County Charter doesn’t allow for it. Sadly, the Board legally has the prerogative here to apppoint the new Sheriff. 🙁
Can the Board request that a special election be conducted to fill the vacancy for Sheriff?
