DEMOCPAC, a new political action committee designed to bring Democrats of Orange County together to “raise our voices locally and nationally” will hold its inaugral meeting Sunday Janauary 28 at Lucca Cafe in Irvine.
The event at the Quail Hill eatery goes from 3-5PM and features renowned sports agent Leigh Steinberg as a guest speaker. To attend, RSVP at contact@democpac.org or call 714-270-5111.
Some of the names on the organizing committee are familiar ones; Sharon Wallin, IUSD trustee; Wendy Bokota, a tireless advocate for Irvine schools and chair of the IUSD PTA; Lita Robinow, an IPSF member; Beth Huntley-Fenner, wife of IUSD trustee Gavin Huntley-Fenner, and Vicky Parret, a hard-working tireless advocate for Irvine schools (and the mom of one Greg Parrett who played center for my IYBL basketball team in 2002-2003 and my IYBL all-star team the following year). There are a host of others, but I’m only commenting on those I know. Exceptional people, all of them. This will be an effective group.ÂÂ
What is the PACs goal? I see what was written, but is it to fund events? Candidates? Staff?
The invitation doesn’t say. There is an email address in the post. Ask them
Hi…to see DemOC PAC’s mission statement and goals, please go to our website, DemOCpac.org. If you have more questions, please contact us and we will respond directly.
But, simply put, a lot of us have been talking for a very long time about organizing a Political Action Committee, based in Orange County that will give money to candidates who meet the criteria delineated in our goals. We will give locally and nationally and want to raise the voice and power of the more than 400,000 Orange County Democrats. We are looking forward to working with the party as well as other local organizations.
Our event on Sunday, January 27 from 3-5 is simply informational and to meet other like-minded peole. Membership is not required but, for those who choose to join, membership is $250 annually, payable in 2 installments, and entitles you to attend all meetings and vote on where the money is spent. It is a great group of people, lots of interesting conversation, fun and meaningful. Let us know if you have any questions. Please RSVP to contact@DemOCPac.org or call 714-270-5111.
Thanks, Dan, for your kind words. Lita Robinow
