DPOC Looking for Political Director

The Democratic Party of Orange County is accepting applications for the immediate hire of a full-time Political Director.

Deadline for resume submission is 5:00 pm, Friday November 30, 2007.

The Political Director’s job includes the following staff functions: 

  • Work with Executive Director to develop and implement strategic plan for 2008
  • Manage field and political interns and volunteers (precinct captains)
  • Oversee 2008 election field analysis
  • Monitor state and national political issues and prepare memos and briefings for Chair, Vice-Chair and Executive Director
  • Liaison to chartered democratic clubs, college and high school democratic clubs in Orange County
  • Facilitate creation and development of new clubs
  • Liaison to ethnic and minority groups
  • Build coalitions with progressive organizations in Orange County
  • Work with Executive Director on major events
  • Responsible for day to day office management

The Political Director position requires proven leadership and judgment with a high level of grassroots political organizing. Applicants must have experience in developing and implementing comprehensive political plans with previous campaign, state party or non-profit managerial-level experience. Experience working with web-based voter files, strong written, verbal communications and analytical skills are also required.

This is a full-time position. Salary range is is $32,000 – $40,000 per annum plus health care benefits.
