CA-44: Host a House Party, Defeat Creepy Ken Calvert, & Make Change!

Hey, you! Are you in the 44th Congressional District? Are you sick and tired of the (lack of) “representation” you’re getting from Creepy Ken Calvert? And would you finally like to do something to change this? If so, then your opportunity has arrived!

Bill Hedrick has been a fantastic advocate for the kids of Greater Corona-Norco on the Corona-Norco School Board, but now he’s ready to take his advocacy to a new level. He’s running for Congress, and he needs our help. Follow me after the flip to find out how YOU can help send a real advocate for working families in Southern California to Congress!

Here’s a request I recently received from Bill Hedrick’s campaign. Perhaps you may be interested in doing this:

We have only 9 months until the primary and 14 ’til the General Election.
There is so much that needs to be done in that time frame. In fact, one of the
things we need assistance with is someone to host a house party for Bill.

The campaign has a goal of doing three of these house parties before the
end of October. We are hoping to have 15-20 people there, and it is a wonderful
opportunity for Bill to outline his vision with friendly faces. It gives us a
chance to frame a message that will get us the 15% of Republicans we need to
oust Calvert.

Please let us know if you would be willing to host the event and we will
get you all the details quickly. We are looking to have them in Riverside,
Corona and in South Orange County. Once again thank you for your support of
Bill!!!!

For those, who are unable to host, but are willing to attend an event, we
have one scheduled on Tuesday, September 25th at 6:30PM at Karen and Dave
Kulick’s Home in Norco. For directions and to RSVP please […] visit the
website at http://www.hedrickforcongress.com./

OK, doesn’t this sound like fun? Wouldn’t you like to host a party in your neighborhood, and give your neighbors a chance to get to know someone who would actually like to do something about the issues that residents of the 44th District care about, such as ending the Iraq War and fixing our broken health care system? And come on now, wouldn’t it be great to actually do something that will help get rid of someone who doesn’t care about what residents of the 44th District care about?

If we truly want to do something to change the direction of our country, then we need to begin taking action in our local communities to deal with our local problems. And right now for South Orange County, one HUGE problem has been Ken Calvert’s lack of interest in doing something about the important issues that local residents care about. Whether he is ignoring the real science of climate change or the real quagmire that is the Iraq Occupation, he is ignoring the things that we really care about. This needs to change. And if Calvert isn’t willing to change, then why not change representatives in the 44th?

If you’d like to join Bill Hedrick in making change happen in the 44th, then consider hosting a house party. Or if you can’t do that, sign up to volunteer for something you can do. Just email info@hedrickforcongress.com to let the campaign know how you would like to help, and just go from there. Now that doesn’t that feel better? I don’t know about you, but I always feel better after I signed up to do something to change things for the better. 🙂

  1. I hope everyone can come out to this house party for Bill Hedricks. Bill was my 6th grade teacher and had a profound effect on my life. He was one of the people responsible for my early introduction to politics and social issues that shaped the way I see the world. (Take that Jubal and your ire against activist teachers LOL).

I am hpoing to be at the party myself but most like ley will beout of town for work on that date. I would like to send someone in my stead.

  2. Paul-

Well, perhaps I can go in your stead. After all, I hear there may be a house party for Bill here in OC soon. If that happens, then I will DEFINITELY be there! Oh yes, and Bill is an amazing educator and a great advocate for working families in the Corona area. I’m sure if he wins next year, ALL of the 44th (including the OC portion!) will be quite proud of him! 🙂

  3. I’m a little pissed that Inland Empire Democrats have placed their hopes of defeating corrupt Rep. Ken Calvert (R) on Bill Hedrick. Can’t we find someone better? Hedrick is gonna get ripped apart if he makes it to the general election in Nov. 2008. See below.

I found this on craigslist > california > inland empire > politics.

Maybe someone can email Bill Hedrick and get a response?

Bill Hedrick is a Democratic candidate in the 2008 congressional elections for the 44th Congressional District of California, which includes Riverside. He is seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge incumbent Rep. Ken Calvert (R-Calif.). The primary will take place on June 3, 2008.

Questions and serious concerns remain about controversial comments made by Bill Hedrick while president of the Rialto Teacher’s Union. In 2005, a verbal argument erupted between a young middle school girl and her teacher, George Warren. Later, the girl accused George Warren of sexually harassing her. Other students came forward as well, corroborating a pattern of sexual harassment by George Warren.

The school district conducted an investigation. At its conclusion, George Warren announced who would no longer serve as a middle school teacher.
Bill Hedrick, then and still president of the Rialto teachers union, made it clear that Warren had been cleared by the school board, had simply retired of his own choice and that the sexual harassment allegations had nothing to do with his decision.

Do you believe Bill? Did he protect a child sex predator?

  4. Why are you carrying on about this. Bill’s statement is his statement. In addition, a labor leader’s job is to represent the folks in his union. That is his job just as it is the job of a firefighter to put out a fire. Bill has said that the teacher’s retirement was the teacher’s decision. Leave it alone. There are much bigger issues in front of all of us. Thanks.

  5. Michelle, if you want to vote for this person [edited], go ahead.
