Remember when I told you last week that the Recall Diane Harkey campaign had been given approval to begin petitioning Dana Point Residents, collecting signatures to put a measure on the ballot to remove Mayor Diane Harkey from office? And remember how the Dana Point City Attorney’s office quickly denied this, saying that formal approval had not yet been given? Well, it looks like the wait is now over..FOR REAL.
I just got word that the Dana Point City Attorney has now given formal approval for the petition to recall to now go out. So what does this mean? Apparently, the recall advocates now have 120 days (or about 4 months) to collect 4,500 signatures of Dana Point residents who want Diane Harkey removed from office. So by tomorrow’s city council meeting, the signature gathering may have already begun.
So what does this mean now? At the very least, Harkey’s journey to Sacramento won’t be as easy as she initially expected. And if the recall effort ultimately succeeds, Harkey may not even have her position in Dana Point to fall back upon. I guess this is what happens when politicians forget where they come from, and who they really serve.
Ultimately, these politicians work for us. Yet so often, they forget that. And just as we can hire them, we can also fire them. I guess we’ll see if Diane Harkey pays the ultimate price for failing the voters of Dana Point.
Can it be? You must have it wrong Andrew. I thought Fago and the other Harkey lemmings said, the “Lacy Klan” couldn’t get their act together.
Oh well, I guess they were duped.
Haha, Chris! Maybe they’ve just been drinking too much of that “Harkey Kool-Aid”. I guess the kool-aid has a seditive effect, as they’ve been sleeping while Dana Point residents have been revving up for change. I guess we’ll see tomorrow if the memo will be reaching the Mayor.
The OC GOP machine strikes out again. No surprise there.
Basta con Harkey!
This is more fun than having my toilet back up while my mother-in-law sits on it. Hey, if you can’t have fun watching Mayor Harkey keep making one mistake after another, then you are taking politics too seriously.
There isn’t a day that goes by that Diane Harkey does not make a mistake and the latest one only tells you that she is on a roll. Since Harkey first got on the city council two years ago, she has managed to aggravate more people in the city than any one person in the state assembly has ever done. It’s like asking yourself…”How do you know when you’re out of invisible ink?” Duh…Hello!
I am truly happy to hear that Andrew will be attending the city council meeting in Dana Point on Tuesday just to hear the mayor make a complete ass of herself. There shall be more people getting up to speak their mind than she can imagine. Either she will keep these people waiting until the last matter on the agenda or she will leave in the middle of the council meeting as she has done before, cussing up a storm and waving her middle finger in the air. Sound cameras are acceptable, folks!
All in all…the council meeting should be worth taping and saving for posterity. Watch out for the fat lady who sits in the second row…she may get up and sing her swan song this evening.
Art-
Ha! ¡Basta con la Machina de los Republicános! ¡Basta con Harkey! Que viva la democracÃÂa en Dana Point!
Jerry-
Ha! Yep, if we can’t laugh at Diane Harkey, then how will we survive these last few months of her as mayor? Oh yes, and I’m REALLY LOOKING FORWARD to meeting you and all the rest at the city council meeting tomorrow! I think I’ll need someone to sit next to when I get shocked by seeing Harkey in action. 😉
