Please see this link for more details; the assembly passed the budget late last night and it goes to the Senate for approval.
Jon Fleischman is none too pleased about it and hopes the Senate Republicans hold the line.ÂÂ
I could write a letter to my assemblyman Chuck DeVore, expressing my displeasure at his No vote on this budget, but since he reads this blog, I want him to know I’m not happy with his vote.ÂÂ
Doesn’t Chuck know Dick Cheney says “Reagan proved deficits don’t matter?” And he belongs to the party in Washington that has been running up the nation’s credit cards for years. How do these fiscally conservative state Republicans resolve themselves with their DC bretheren?
I’m pondering…..
ÂÂ
ÂÂ
Fiscally, I think many of my “DC bretheren” stink.
Further, states are not legally allowed to run deficits in the same way the federal government can — the feds have this funny adversion to states printing money to cover debt…
That answer the question for you?
All the best,
Chuck DeVore
State Asssemblyman, 70th District
Alas, the (the DC brethern) do smell and for more reasons than their fiscal policy.
I know this budget is a disappointment to you, but really, the (vast majority of) people in California do have adversions to cuts in education. Perhaps we could lobby our GOP OC delegration to fully fund NCLB and special education to relieve the tax burden on school districts and the state to cover these unfunded mandates.
