The Margin of Victory? You Better Believe It!

Being a leader in the Young Democrats for the past 6 years (wow, it’s been that long?) I have been preaching the gospel that if you invest in Young people, you will win.

Today, I received this from John G. Vigna, the CYD Political Director.  It is a report put out by Young Voter Strategies and George Washington University.  It is titled “Young Voter Mobilization Tactics”, and is very informative.  Too bad they focused on Arnold and not the CYD Peer to Peer campaign in Senate District 34, but he is an actor and I am not.

You can find a link to the PDF HERE with some other good documents on youth voting.

  1. Tim,

Thank you for brining that study to my attention (Young Voter Mobilization Tactics II). Check out page 28, 29 and 30. They praise the California Republican Party/Victory 06 in doing a superb job in mobilizing young voters through their outreach around the state in the 2006 cycle.

I did field work up in northern California and it makes me proud to see what we did as a team in a grad school publication.

I have made sure to send that PDF to all my collogues.

  2. Andrew-

So let me see if I got this straight. Only 44% of the youth vote for someone who is arguably the most popular person on the world and you are proud?

The Arnold campaign was profiled for its unique approach which I admit was cleaver. However, young people were one of the only age demographics to vote for Phil over Arnold. The race was a runaway for most demographics, but not young people.

The story that should have been profiled was that of the Young Democrats work in Senate District 34. By targeting that seat Young Democrats were able to turnout enough young people to seal the deal for Senator Correa.

  3. Actually Andrew, those of us n the left are very happy that you elected a Democrat in Republican clothing. Tell me Arnold’s policies are true to your party and i you can do it with a straight face, I’m happy to sell you a Bridge in Brooklyn
