I have been following the news on the Congressional Hearings regarding the Dept of Justice firing 8 Federal Prosecuters for political reasons. Two of interest were U.S. Prosecuter David Iglesias who may have been pressured by Senator Pete Dominici to deliver indictments of Democrats before the November 2006 election and U.S. Prosecuter Carol Lam who may have been ‘soft’ on immigration and overly zealous in prosecuting Randy ‘Duke’ Cunningham.
I recognise that U.S. Attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President, but following high evaluations, the firing was puzzling.
Two items recently broke: Senator John Sununu has called for Alberto Gonzales’ resignation and Bush has gone on record saying he has ‘complete confidence’ in Gonzales.
Do we want to see how many more days Gonzales lasts?
I happened to see George Stepenopolous interview Gonzales this am on GMA – George tore him to peices.
