Gustavo Arellano: “I can help you on your spanish.”

OC Weekly’s Gustavo Arellano was at the Tan Nguyen press conference this afternoon, and he got a little heated when Nguyen told the crowd that the word “emigrado” implied non-citizenship.

Matt Cunningham (Jubal) from the OCBlog was taping the press conference, and he posted an audio file of Gustavo questioning Tan.

UPDATE: Gustavo blogged a little over at The Blotter regarding the word “emigrado” and promises more tomorrow.

  1. FYI,

The online Spanish to English dictionary I found defined emigrado with the English word emigrant.

American Heritage Dictionary defines emigrant as: One who emigrates.

American Heritage defines emigrate as: To leave one country or region to settle in another.

I do not speak spanish, but I can see attorneys taking this information and using it to demonstrate the meaning of the letter.
