Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47) today announced that she is asking the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to investigate the U.S. Marine Corps’ primary food services vendor for excessive waste and possible food safety concerns. Sodexo, which is currently nearing the end of its eight-year, $881 million contract with the Marine Corps, has been under scrutiny following multiple reports of food safety non-compliance and a drastic, mid-contract change to its food operations.
A lot must happen for the city officials to meet that deadline, and right now they aren’t even close. Orange County, which at one point was Costa Mesa’s partner in the deal, has walked away.
It is shameful that instead of using their brains to come up with ideas to fix the city, they are using them to tear down a man who truly wants to fix the city. Shameful indeed. Here are some pictures which were e-mailed to me from a witness who happened to come across the protest as well.
Judge Sanders has ruled this morning that Rodenhuis is eligible to run for county Treasurer-Tax Collector. Rodenhuis said in an email statement; “I am happy, but not surprised by the decision. The suit was frivolous and a waste of the court’s time and the taxpayer’s money. This is not the kind of leadership Orange County wants or needs in a time of fiscal stress.”

Vector Control District Manager Goedhart was told he would be gone in 6 months. I’m not quite certain what Goedhardt did to annoy the Board President Anderson but a Special Meeting was called to deal with him a week earlier than planned.
It looks like 2010 is going to be the year the residents of Santa Ana begin to rise up and speak out and demand accountability from their city leaders. I have long wondered when they would have enough, it turns out having six schools to be declared failures, a non-responsive City Council, a lack of places for their children to play and gang violence have finally driven them over the edge.
