Nick Berardino challenges Mauk on executive pay

OCEA General Manager Nick Berardino challenged County CEO Tom Mauk to a debate about executive compensation during the County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday. Berardino also called for Supervisors to start paying for their pensions during a discussion about whether Supervisors should move toward a defined contribution retirement plan.

Shawn Nelson: 8-25-09 “Sue my city please.”

In August 2009 Shawn Nelson tells the Board of Supervisors that they have the obligation to sue the City of Fullerton to block the redevelopment expansion and not accept the payoff that the city has offered. Now there is nothing wrong with a member of a city council disagreeing with the majority vote of his council. It is however wrong for any elected official to encourage another government entity to sue the one he represents as a member of the City Council.

In the video, Anaheim Councilwoman Lorri Galloway visits the cities of La Habra, Buena Park, Anaheim and other cities in the 4th District. If it were me, I would be spending my time walking preceincts in the areas where people don’t have any clue who I am instead of taking time out to shoot videos.

In a letter yesterday Nguyen confirmed his intentions to run for Clerk-Recorder. In his letter he incorrectly claims “the spending at the Clerk-Recorder’s office is massively over budget.” What kind of “management” employee at the county would make such a statement, with no factual basis?

OC Supervisors Approve Deputies Contract

The Orange County Board of Supervisors voted 3-1 on Tuesday to ratify the contract agreement with the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs. The deal marks a compromise reached after six months of negotiations, as declining tax revenue and climbing retirement costs continue straining county coffers.

OC Deputies Ratify New Contract

On WednesdayJanuary 20th the members of the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriff’s voted on their new contract. Approximately half of the union membership, 886 members, participated in the ratification vote. The results were overwhelming.
