The Quest to Remake Capistrano Unified: A Parent’s Perspective

September 19, 2010 0

I came to this conclusion after watching the campaign by the current trustees to impose an agenda that in my view that forgot what they were elected: to serve the Children of the District. It began when I went out to a Community Meet and Greet organized by Capistrano’s Children First to start making inroads within the Community earlier in the year. I got a real sense of where things were when I saw the District go on strike. I joined the teachers on the picket lines to underscore how the Community was with them. President appoints Elizabeth Warren “Watchdog for the American Consumer”

September 18, 2010 0

Long before this crisis hit, she had written eloquently, passionately, forcefully, about the growing financial pressures on working families and the need to put in place stronger consumer protections. Santa Ana Council Video: We’re not the City of Bell

September 16, 2010 12

This is a heavily edited video of Santa Ana City Council member comments made at their September 7th meeting. It was this meeting where members Martinez and Tinajero voted improperly on a resolution to lower, and suspend for a year, soccer permit fees paid by adult leagues. Martinez and Tinajero each accepted $500 from a for-profit league that benefits from that reduction creating a conflict of interest making them unable to vote on the matter.

200 Years of Mexico, 100 of Revolution

September 16, 2010 5

In recent posts, I have been drawing parallel’s between the events in Mexico in 1810 and 1910 and events in Santa Ana in 2010. There are similarites, particularly with the Mexican Revolution of 1910 here in Santa Ana today. With this bit of education from the festival, hopefully voters will see this and act accordingly this November.
