Repair Costa Mesa has dropped their third TV spot in response to the arbitrary, hasty, and misguided decision of the Costa Mesa City Council to outsource virtually all of their staff other than their police department.
“Should Costa Mesa be run like a business?” All sides in the debate seemed to be in agreement that business principles have a role in the management of any city budget. However that agreement led me to the conclusion that the positions advocated by Mayor Pro Tem Jim Righeimer and Costa Mesa Taxpayers Association President Colin McCarthy are far removed from any sound principles I have ever seen.

Early Saturday morning, vandals threw a brick through the front door window of Costa Mesa Mayor Gary Monahan’s bar Skosh Monahan’s. According to Monahan as quoted in press reports, a note was attached to the brick that was allegedly critical of the Mayor and his plans to lay off more than 200 city workers and outsource the services they perform.
