Kimmel Protest at Disneyland Tonight

Goofy at Disneyland

There was an Instagram post about a protest at Disneyland tonight starting around 6:30 — so go if you want to support Kimmel.  There were protests outside his theater on Hollywood Blvd yesterday at Disney’s Studios in Burbank.

Today’s media reality is the President has thin skin.  It’s the only thing about him that is thin.  There was nothing in Kimmel’s monologue Monday night that warranted this suspension.  And the Hollywood trades are reporting he may be back sooner than later.  Sinclair Broadcasting wants a written apology from Kimmel with a financial donation to Charlie Kirk’s family and Turning Point USA.  Kimmel was already thinking about retirement so I would not be surprised if he did, but we need his voice now, more than ever.  Humor is the best way to go after tyrants.

And Kimmel’s suspension isn’t unprecedented.  Bill Maher lost his show “Politically Incorrect” in 2001 by saying the 9/11 Hijackers weren’t cowards because they flew jets into buildings.  The Smothers Brothers were fired from their show in 1969 for their protests of the Vietnam war.

When it comes to the FCC and the First Amendment, the government cannot censor speech.  The FCC regulates the public airwaves.  So when someone calls for MSNBC or CNN to lose their broadcast license, I smirk.  Cable networks are not regulated by the FCC.  And the censorship from the FCC comes in the form of broadcasting license renewal and approval of media mergers where the public airwaves are involved.  Disney is trying to acquire The NFL Network and to make sure the acquisition goes smoothly, they’ve shut Kimmel up.

While some are cancelling subscriptions to Disney Plus and boycotting the Parks or Products, the fact that some talent won’t work for the company again is a bigger financial problem for the company.

The two things that really get me her are Kimmel critics who complain about his time as a co-host for The Man Show which ran on Comedy Central 20 years ago, before Kimmel married and had a family.  The person who replaced Kimmel on the show — none other than Joe Rogan.  The second is  Kimmel was accurate in describing Kirk’s suspected shooter as MAGA; the kid’s grandmother said the whole family was MAGA and they didn’t know any Democrats.

And the Right certainly is trying to make this suspect a leftist without a shred of evidence.  But Kimmel’s off the air while Fox News’ Brian Killmeade called for killing mentally ill homeless people with a lethal injection is still on the air — protected by the fact Fox News is a cable network.

  1. Kimmel was simply using the standard liberal tactic of ” Muddying the Waters” by trying to instill doubt about a situation where none existed and inserting it into the narrative. He did nothing illegal. No doubt. Free speech is free speech. Unfortunately for Kimmel, the people who carry his program also have a right to exercise their free speech rights, especially when it is apparent that he is simply lying in an effort to advance an ideological narrative. So the ABC affiliates have every right to do as they please with regards to their business interests. Had to laugh at Chuck Shumer… ” Outraged ” by it all, when he was calling for the firing of Tucker Carlson not so long ago. The hypocrisy is hilarious.

  2. By the way,it appears that you also employ the same tactic with your bullshit assertion that “Kimmel was accurate in describing Kirk’s suspected shooter as MAGA; the kid’s grandmother said the whole family was MAGA and they didn’t know any Democrats.”

“And the Right certainly is trying to make this suspect a leftist without a shred of evidence”

You know you are absolutely full of shit.

    • NBC reported that there’s no link to the suspect and any leftist organizations. Meanwhile, Grindr app failures were all over Glendale AZ and gay conservatives used a funeral service for a pick up opp
