TheLiberalOC has learned that Judge Fernando L. Aenelle-Rocha has denied the stipulation to continue senencing for former Anaheim Chamber of Commerce chief Todd Ament. He will appear in federal court in Los Angeles tomorrow at 1:30 PM. The hearing is a motion to dismiss the first count of fraud.
Last week, Ament’s legal team said they had reached a new agreement with the government and moved to have him sentenced in Fenruary 2026. It is unclear if the denied sentencing impacts the agreement between Ament and the Feds.
Former Democratic Consultant Melahat Rafiei will be sentenced in the same court before the same judge; the time announced previously was 9 AM. Instad, its been moved to the afternoon. For those handicapping the sentences, whatever Ament gets, Rafiei’s will be far less.
