

City of Artesia Mayor and past California League of Cities President Ali Sajjad Taj announced receiving the endorsement of California’s newest United States Senator, Adam Schiff, in his race for State Assembly in District 67. Senator Schiff’s endorsement follows incumbent Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva’s endorsement of Taj.
“Ali Taj is an American success story who is fighting to help others realize their dreams,” said Senator Schiff. “As an Assemblymember, he’ll partner with me to defend democracy, expand economic opportunity for working families, and protect reproductive healthcare rights.”

Ali is the only candidate to have filed a 12/31 campaign report for the race, showing over $213,000 in the bank without any debt.
Ali Sajjad Taj currently serves as Artesia’s Mayor with over a decade of public service experience. Known for his collaborative approach and dedication to community improvement, Taj has consistently worked to enhance public safety, promote economic development, and advocate for education, affordable housing and homelessness. He served as President of the League of California Cities, comprising all 482 cities, from 2022-2023. Taj would be the first known Pakistani-born member of the California Legislature.
