Politico reports that the DCCC has taken to the road in CA-45 to educate voters in neighborhoods and on the board about Rep. Michelle Steel’s support for the life at Conception Act, which bars in-vitro fertilization treatments that Steel herself used to start a family.
From the newsletter:
DCCC spokesperson Dan Gottlieb said Democrats won’t let Republicans “pretend to be moderates” when they’ve pushed bills to outlaw many types of reproductive care.
Steel, who has used IVF, withdrew her cosponsorship after she won her primary race last month, weeks after the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos can be considered children under state law. Steel said she does not support federal restrictions on IVF. A spokesperson called Dems’ ad “disgusting,” noting that Steel had one of her children through IVF.
Monday, former President Donald Trump called for states to decide laws on abortion rights which is a dodge as he has previously stated he was in favor of a national ban, proudly took credit for overturning Roe v. Wade, and has stated there needs to be some sort of punishment for women who have an abortion. The issue will be front and center for November (or Roevember as activists are calling it). OC voters need to know Steel is a champion for removing women’s rights.
Democrat Derek Tran provides pro-choice voters with an ideal solution; replace Steel this November.
