In Memoriam
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing last week of Central Committee member and passionate Democrat Michelle “Misha” Houser. Misha was the kind of Democrat we all aspire to be and when we fell short, Misha would be there to lift us up, dust us off, and ready us for a return to the fight.
She always believed that it is important that all voices be heard and she worked hard to ensure that all are represented. As an LGBTQ community member, she became an organizing representative for the statewide Repeal Prop 8 effort. Misha was a board member of an LGBTQ political PAC, and a member of the OC Stonewall Dems.
Misha volunteered for dozens of candidates, produced mailers, walk pieces, ads, and other materials for them, and served as staff for many other campaigns, primarily for Latino and Vietnamese American candidates.
She also stood with working families. Misha was a strong supporter of Labor, having been the first union graphic designer in the county.
As a wheelchair-bound member of the Central Committee, Misha believed it was important to bring her voice and viewpoint to the body.
Misha was active until the day she passed. She was a true warrior who fought hard but without bitterness. She believed in the better angels of our nature and never gave up fighting the good fight.
While our world is a lesser place without her, we were all privileged to have known Misha and her legacy lives on as long as we remember her and the many gifts she gave us. Rest now, Misha. We will see you again.

Vern has a comment on the slob blog extolling his friendship with Misha.
I guess she wasn’t on Tito Watch’s Christmas Card list!
I can’t wait to watch the Anaheim council stream tonight. If I were Natalie Rubacalva I would file a retraining order against Vern, Donna, Greg, Jeanie and Ada. That was classless even by Anna Dive standards.
Vern trying to distance his slog from his harassment of the late Jordan Brandman is telling. Can’t wait for the kitchen table lawyers spin.
Misha and I were much closer. I didn’t know she went into hospice. She was private about her health
Misha’s passion and warmth were the first things I noticed when I began my journey in OC politics. Her infectious energy not only made the world brighter but inspired us all to strive for better. We have truly lost a remarkable force, leaving us to honor her legacy by continuing the fight she so fervently championed.
Well said Mike. She and I spoke often of the charities she raised money for and it was always an easy yes to write a check.
