The OC Register is reporting that UCI professor David Pan, an Irvine resident and newly minted Republican, will challenge Congressman Lou Correa for CA46. Pan told the Register he changed his registration from Democrat to Republican because he’s “frustrated with the way in which debates in the university have been somewhat constrained….Particularly in terms of issues like affirmative action. We need to focus on merit, hard work and taking responsibility.”
Merit? Hard work? Taking responsibility? These are not Republican values. Certainly not on any national level.
Pan told the Register: “My goal is to find some common ground between the parties to make real change. Opposition politics doesn’t make room for real change. We need to get moderates on both sides on board.”
He apparently is unaware of Rep. Correa’s reputation for working across the aisle.
Pan says he is not a conservative Republican in a county known for them. One of the issues he is running on is bringing down inflation; so much for free market conservativism.
CA-46 is one of the most Latino congressional districts in the country, so I have to think Pan is the OC GOP’s sacrificial lamb for the district Correa has served well. You have to wonder who at OC GOP HQ thought it’d be a great idea to run an Asian man who’s carpetbagging from Irvine to represent the heavily Latino residents of Santa Ana, Anaheim, Orange, Stanton and Fullerton in Congress?

But as far as Santa Ana goes, at a loose discussion with central OC Dems came up in DTSA over drinks Councilmember Baccerra’ “arm chair lawyer” comment came up and somebody replied: “maybe in thirty years, they can be like Greg Diamond and rise to the level of Kitchen Table Attorney” those who knew, erupted in laughter”.
I thought that was unfair, these young folks pay rent, button their shirt and wear shoes….light years ahead of “Grifter Greg”

Dan, except that it is inhumane, Vern’s wife showing up in a bathrobe at Chapter One to defend his “lecherous” behavior against Lorri Galloway. That should be REQUIRED watching for OC Progressives.
