The Democrats of Greater Irvine host a meeting tonight where the members will hear pitches from candidates and then hold an endorsement vote. The details on the meeting are below.
It’s my understanding attendees can join the organization at this meeting tonight but there are limitations on your ability to vote. So if you can’t vote, don’t be a jerk about it. The endorsement vote only establishes some early bragging rights candidates can use to campaign, but it doesn’t always translate to a primary winner. Here’s the pitch from DGI: We cordially invite you to a critical meeting taking place September 6th, which will significantly influence our club’s position within the Democratic Party. This gathering is of particular importance for the following reasons:
Your participation will not only shape our club’s endorsement position but also directly impact the Democratic Party’s trajectory in upcoming elections. We encourage you to attend, voice your perspectives, and exercise your voting rights to guide our collective decision-making. Presenting candidates include: Congressional Candidates (CD 47) State Senate Candidates (SD 37)
Assembly Candidate (AD 73)
Board of Supervisors Candidate (District 3)
We will also vote on OC Board of Education Area 3, where Dr. Nancy Watkins is seeking Democratic Party support — and who we heard from in July — as well as a vote on the U.S. Senate race between Rep. Barbara Lee, Rep. Katie Porter, and Rep. Adam Schiff. To be eligible for participating in the endorsement vote, please ensure that you are a member in good standing, as outlined in the DGI Bylaws Section (IV)B. Specifically, you must be up-to-date on your club dues as of last month and have attended at least one meeting within the last 12 months. If you meet these criteria, you may partake in the endorsement process, either by attending in person at the IRWD Community Room, located at 15500 Sand Canyon in Irvine, or virtually via Zoom. Attendance either in-person or virtually is required. We will let you know of your membership status at check-in, or reply to this email if you have membership questions. Please register in advance for virtual attendance here. Agenda for the Meeting: The event will commence with a social gathering featuring pizza at 6:30 pm, followed by the formal meeting at 7:00 pm. Your active engagement in this meeting is not merely a reflection of your membership in our club; it signifies your commitment to advancing the principles of the Democratic Party and the candidates who move those principles forward. It also actualizes your involvement in local politics and your aspirations to make a meaningful impact on our community and broader global issues. |
I should attend and scare the bejeezus out of Judas Kev. Frickin Chicken Little.
Hey Don Jones, Krusty the Klown called. He said he wants his hairdo back.
why are you such a mean-spirited prick Eric?
I thought that was funny. Grow up, Dan. It was a joke. Just like her candidacy. Have a sense of humor and some candor.
It’s not; you’re a mean-spirited prick
So says you chubby. So says you.
