Public Employees Endorse Dave Min For Congress

In His Third Major Labor Endorsement Of The Week, CA State Senator Min Earns The Support of The Orange County Employees Association

IRVINE, CA — Today, the Orange County Employees Association announced their endorsement of Dave Min for US Congress in California’s 47th Congressional District. This announcement marks the third major labor endorsement for State Senator Dave Min this week, as he had earlier announced the support of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 324 and the National Union of Healthcare Workers. OCEA joins statewide labor organizations–the Service Employees International Union and the California Federation of Teachers–as well as an impressive cohort of locals and councils, including Teamsters Joint Council 42, IBEW locals 47 and 441, LAPPL, and IUPAT District Council 36, in endorsing California State Senator Dave Min. Dave Min has a record of advocating on behalf of municipal and county employees, and is emerging as the clear candidate of choice for Orange County’s working families.

Dave Min is a champion for Orange County’s working families,” said Charles Barfield, General Manager of the Orange County Employees Association. “He has been a strong and consistent voice for the 18,000 public employees that make up OCEA, and we know we can rely on him in Congress to continue to represent our best interests at the federal level. Senator Min is far and away the most pro-labor candidate in this race. We’re proud to join the growing coalition of supporters that are going to help Dave Min win this race for California’s 47th Congressional District.

The Orange County Employees Association is comprised of thousands of public health nurses, social workers, law enforcement officers, health inspectors and other dedicated workers who keep Orange County running. OCEA is the largest organization of municipal and county employees in Orange County, and–like a growing number of other local, statewide, and national unions–is throwing its early support behind Dave Min as organized labor’s choice in CA-47.

After impressive fundraising hauls in the first and second quarter of this year, Dave Min continues to set the pace for Katie Porter’s open Congressional seat by adding to his political coalition throughout the summer. Min has consolidated support from local, state, and national endorsers. Min entered the race with support from current CA-47 Representative, Katie Porter. In recent months, Min has announced the endorsements of California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis, Attorney General Rob Bonta, State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Insurance Commissioner Ricard Lara, Superintendent of Public Schools Tony Thurmond, the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus’s political leadership ASPIRE PAC, more than 50 local Orange County government officials, and more than 60 state legislators.
