Statement from Joanna Weiss |
I’m honored to be endorsed by WIL and the many distinguished women leaders who are working to defend reproductive freedom here in Orange County. The path to protecting reproductive rights runs through Orange County, and I know that if we do not win this race, my daughters will grow up in a world with fewer rights than I had. That is unacceptable, and it’s why I am in this fight. I’m excited to have WIL in my corner. |
Many of you know Joanna through her decades of local community work, including the founding in 2016 of Women for American Values and Ethics (WAVE).
Now she’s ready to take all her experience defending democracy, standing up for reproductive rights and protecting the environment to the halls of Congress. WIL is behind her all the way.
Joanna is a former litigator and Adjunct Professor at Chapman University School of Law, where she taught courses on Pre-Trial Civil Procedure and Public Interest Lawyering. She served on the Board of Directors of the Public Law Center for over a decade and has won multiple awards for her legal and community leadership, recently including the Women’s Journey Foundation Legacy Award (2019) and the Anti-Defamation League Orange County/Long Beach (ADL) Marcus Kaufman Jurisprudence Award (2020).
Fun fact: Joanna is an avid surfer, and some of her favorite memories are having three generations of her family together out on the water for a surf session. 🏄♀️
