Orange County, CA — School Board Member Allyson Muñiz Damikolas raised over $153,000 within a month of announcing her campaign for Congress in California’s 40th District.
On May 24, 2023, Damikolas announced her campaign to replace Republican Rep. Young Kim in a seat that voted for Biden in 2020. By June 30, Damikolas had raised more than $153,000 in campaign donations from over 450 individual donations. She finishes her first quarter of fundraising in a formidable position to secure a spot in the general election and return CA-40 to Democratic control in 2024.
“I am grateful to each and every supporter that has contributed to our cause,” said Allyson Damikolas. “Our grassroots supporters have already delivered a clear message: this election, the health of our kids and our families comes first. We will build our success in the next quarter because voters know Young Kim has put corporations and extremists above our well-being.”
Allyson Damikolas has been a problem solver from the time she had to advocate for her daughters — they needed health care to overcome debilitating diagnoses, and insurers wanted to deny them care. She served as PTO president for several years, advocating for robust student academic and extracurricular programs, until 2020, when Allyson defeated a 24-year incumbent and was elected Trustee to the Tustin Unified School Board. She now serves more than 24,130 students across 3 cities and with a strong belief that students’ physical and mental well-being is the precursor to academic success, she focused on directing resources throughout the district on student and staff well-being. She is prepared to represent the people of Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties by protecting health care coverage, school quality, freedom from gun violence, and reproductive health care in Washington.
“I am running for Congress because women, families, and kids need an advocate in Washington. Special interest groups are working with Young Kim to take away our right to make health care decisions and to limit the diversity in our schools,” said Damikolas. “I am ready to serve every voter in this district so that our community has a brighter future.”
