COTO DE CAZA, CA – Fire Captain and labor leader Joe Kerr has announced a strong first round of endorsements to kick-off his campaign in California’s 40th District.

Joe Kerr has been endorsed by Congresswoman Katie Porter, Congressman Mike Levin, Congressman Lou Correa, Senator Tom Umberg, former Senator Joe Dunn, Santa Ana Mayor Valerie Amezcua, Teamsters Joint Council 42, and Painters District Council 36. He also has the full and unwavering support of the Orange County Professional Firefighters Association.

“I am excited to endorse Joe Kerr in his run for Congress,” said Congresswoman Katie Porter. “As a long time firefighter, Joe put his life on the line to keep Orange County families safe. And as a seasoned labor leader, I know Joe will fight everyday for working people and help restore confidence in government.”

Congressman Mike Levin stated, “I am proud to endorse Joe Kerr for the 40th Congressional District. When I was Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Orange County I worked closely with Joe on vitally important issues, including public safety, equal opportunity, and an economy that works for everyone. Joe will defend our democracy, and protect working Californians and the underserved. I look forward to having him as a colleague when we take back the House in the new Congress.”

“I know Joe as a staunch defender of OC taxpayers and working families,” Congressman Lou Correa said. “We worked together to negotiate a refund of over $300M in Vehicle License Fees to our county coffers, and when he was President of the OC Firefighters he helped create a health care trust for our county firefighters and paramedics that also generated a $2M refund of taxpayer dollars back to the OCFA. I proudly endorse Joe Kerr for Congress.”

Joe Kerr stated regarding these endorsements, “I am honored to have the support of so many proven leaders and organizations that work each and every day for a better California. It goes to show that this seat can be won, but only with the right candidate. I look forward to building off of our tremendous momentum and flipping CA-40 back into the hands of the people.”
