WISEPlace, a nonprofit community of hope and housing for women in crisis founded in 1929, and Jamboree, a nonprofit affordable housing developer, are breaking ground on new supportive permanent housing in Santa Ana. The $30 million building project sits on a 0.6-acre lot and will transform the site to create a new 43,000-square-foot supportive housing community with wrap around services for 47 vulnerable residents. The redevelopment project is the result of collaborative work and support from the City of Santa Ana, OC Housing Finance Trust, Supervisor Katrina Foley, local business leaders, and the Santa Ana residents and community.
Once complete, the new building will include 48 furnished affordable housing units, each with a bathroom, shower, and kitchenette. The studio apartments measure approximately 360-425 square feet and are reserved for individuals earning no more than 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI). There will also be one two-bedroom manager’s unit. Inside, resident community spaces will have financial empowerment learning labs, dedicated wrap-around service areas, private counseling and case management spaces, wellness and fitness rooms and a welcoming outdoor courtyard complete with community gardens and room for domestic pets.
