Newport Beach, CA: Women for American Values and Ethics (WAVE) founder Joanna Weiss, Democratic candidate for the open 47th Congressional District in California, has announced that she has raised more than $269,000 in campaign contributions since announcing her run for Congress just three weeks ago.
“I’m thrilled and humbled by the outpouring of support we’ve received since announcing my entry into the race,” Weiss said. “It’s clear that people are eager to support a homegrown candidate with fresh ideas, who can build strong and effective coalitions to fight for their interests in Congress.”
The impressive fundraising effort is a testament to Weiss’s strong grassroots support and the enthusiasm surrounding her campaign. Weiss has been a vocal advocate for abortion rights, protecting Medicare and women’s and senior health programs, and gun safety.
“Our campaign is powered by people who believe that new leadership can make a real difference in the lives of Californians,” Weiss added. “Thanks to this strong fundraising support, I am confident we can continue to build the momentum we need to hold the seat in November 2024.”
Joanna Weiss was born and raised in Orange County. She is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, and University of Southern California School of Law. A former litigator, Joanna served as an Adjunct Professor at Chapman University School of Law and has provided pro bono legal services to the community while operating her local business for over a decade.
