When it comes to devastating damaging websites against political candidates, Republicans usually outshine Democrats. But for the January 31 election in Seal Beach, the “LyingLisa.org” site is the bomb.
The opposition research against candidate Lisa Landau is astonishing. She isn’t an accountant, she owes significant back taxes on her home, and lives outside the district. The address she provided for her candidacy is a home under construction, so where does she live? The DPOC did a masterful job with this site and this post is a reminder to cast a ballot for Stephanie Wade.
For more on Stephanie (an edited bio):
Stephanie Wade is a former Marine Infantry officer, educator and long-ago transplant from the East Coast. She is a surfer, environmental activist and a fan of small towns who fell in love with Seal Beach at first sight. Wade taught social studies and physical education for fourteen years and co-founded a team-taught honors program in world history that is still in use at her old school. As a PE teacher, she raised more than $5,100 for her district’s Continuation School, earning a certificate of appreciation from the Superintendent.
As the founding head coach of her school’s track program, she coached four sprinters to qualify and compete in the State Championships in the team’s first season.
Deeply concerned about climate change and threats to our oceans, she joined the Surfrider Foundation, to work on dune restoration projects, recycling reform, plastic recovery, expansion of beach access and protecting critical reef habitats. She led one of the largest Surfrider chapters in the country, and, most recently, helped lead a successful effort to reduce the use of single-use polystyrene products in Culver City.
In 2017, Wade was inspired to begin a new career in public service, which led to a job as the Director of Volunteers for a campaign that sent a first-time candidate to Congress. After the election, she served in Rep. Gil Cisneros’s office as a Veterans Liaison and Field Representative where she was one of the first out trans women to serve on a congressional staff and held a prominent role in supporting the congress member’s legislative work on the Veterans Affairs and Armed Services Committees. Her work included helping Orange County veterans reclaim $231,080 in VA benefits and getting our local VA to provide better services for disabled student veterans.
Wade currently serve as a policy advisor to Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, managing a $2 million community service and events budget that supports arts council events, vaccine clinics and the accessible beach mat just installed in Seal Beach. She coordinates federal COVID relief funds that provide direct support to food-insecure seniors, veterans and families.
In addition to her public service work, Wade is a member of the Board of Advisors for the Equality California Institute and serve as Vice Chair of the Orange County Veterans Advisory Council (OCVAC).
Wade is the proud mom of an 11-year-old daughter and a 25-year-old son, who are smart, hardworking, creative, civic minded and, her my biggest supporters in this race. She holds a BA from Brown University and a MA in Colonial American and Military History from Duke University.
