DPOC Chair to Voice of OC; Vote No on Recall

Dear neighbors of mine three houses away just became US citizens but thought they had missed their window to register to vote in the special election.  So I pinged DPOC Chair Ada Briceno for some guidance (after hours and time was very short).  Our party chair came back with a link and 30 minutes later, four newly minted Americans are set to vote in this special election.  My neighbors asked to express their gratitude to Briceno, so I’ll do it here.

Since she began as chair, Briceno has done a remarkable job herding cats.  She listens to everyone and makes up her own mind.  She always seeks common ground, accepts the will of the majority, and advocates for what she believes in on every party meeting and interaction.  Our party is better by having her as our leader.

Briceno published this piece in the Voice of OC on the recall and why OC should vote No.  Here are some highlights of the story:

As the last of Orange County’s ballots arrive in the mail this week, it is crucial to watch for our ballots and vote no on the recall. We must vote no to prevent costly — and deadly — consequences for our local communities.

If we lose this recall, Orange County is in a world of hurt. All of the leading GOP candidates support Donald Trump and his dangerous rhetoric. We saw these values first-hand here in Orange County, at a recent recall debate hosted from the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda. Personally, I was angry to see GOP recall candidates deny COVID science, attack our critical environmental protections, and scapegoat undocumented immigrants.
