In an effort to “look squirrel”and distract from Publisher Vern Nelson’s bathroom meditations, the OJ blog ran a post where offensive text messages attributed to Anaheim Council member Jordan Brandman were published.

He sent us this statement after first sending to DPOC Chair Ada Briceno. Our take is accept them or not; voters will always decide who gets elected no matter how much a 5-time DUI/Twitter noob whines.

From Brandman:

“I am disheartened to learn that a private conversation of mutual distaste from February 2020 is making the rounds on social media due to recent votes I cast regarding a housing project and removal of a city commissioner. While I would ask for grace and patience, as the screenshots released do not represent the conversation’s full context, I want to sincerely apologize. My language in the heat of the moment over a year ago was beyond inappropriate and should never be uttered about any human being. To those who respect me and have been impacted – I am sorry. l look forward to working to build back that confidence and trust in my leadership.”

  1. Great. In how many ways is this pathetic and insufficient? Let’s get started:

    Jordan’s “apology” should not be directed at “those who respect me and have been impacted” – which is basically nobody. It should be directed first at DENISE BARNES, whom he hasn’t called, then maybe to Jodie Mosley who was horrified by the text and shared it with her three friends, ALL of whom were so grossed out that they quit “Anaheim First.” After that, maybe all women, and humans.

    Jordan employs all the weasel arts here: If only I had given more “context” to his texts then they wouldn’t seem so bad. Well, I tried to get more context, but what context would excuse “rip her f-ng t*ts off” and “c**t?” Maybe, if Denise had broken into his house and killed his dog. Then, MAYBE.

    And he claims the release of his text is due to his “votes on a housing project and removal of a city commissioner.” What housing project? Does he think the Sunkist vote was a housing project, he paid that little attention? (This is actually more evidence that Jordan didn’t even write this “apology,” along with the good spelling and vocabulary.) His hypocritical excoriation of Larry Larsen did inspire my source to release these texts, but the only reason they were released was their grossness combined with his hypocritical sanctimony.

    What the hell is a “private conversation of mutual distaste?” Jordan and Jodie both felt distaste for the words that were popping out from their fingers? Or they both felt distaste for Denise, you want to go there still?

    We learn two things from this fake apology – Jordan admits the texts are in fact genuine, and that he plans to try to ride this out, and not resign, leaving it to Anaheim District 2 to recall him (or the Council to expel him.) If this doesn’t happen now, this ambitious politician will be angling soon enough for Assembly and Congress.

    Ada has seen all this, and we await her statement. Many of us Democrats have been telling her for years that this is not a person for the Party to be proud of.

    Dan C, who developed the “Look Squirrel” technique before there was ever a “Dug the Talking Dog,” lies further to his readers by saying these texts were “attributed” to Jordan, in an introduction to Jordan ADMITTING THEY’RE HIS.

    And lastly (for now) was Dan’s choice of a pic with Senator Gillibrand some kind of dark humor? This is a feminist Senator who has, probably more than any other, fought against the sexist treatment women get in politics and the Senate, from Democrats as well as Republicans. I would like to hear Kristen’s take on Jordan’s texts!

    Regardless if your conversation with Ms Mosely was of mutual distaste, Ms Mosely is not a Council Member representing our city. Bringing this issue to the Public has NOTHING to do with any vote you made on any project; it had everything to do with you being a spineless hypocrite and ruining the lives of others in the process for absolutely no reason. You have done as much damage to Ms Denise Barnes, as Mark Richard Daniels did to Ms. Mosely. I am beside myself as to why Ms Mosely finds Mr Daniels’ actions sexual harassment, yet stays mum about your despicable behavior. It doesn’t matter, because we were all cc’d.

    Mr. Brandman, it is time for you to step down and remove yourself from politics.

    Denise Barnes is now a Democrat who has not renounced previous conservative positions which is why she did not get the party’s endorsement,

    Lastly, shut the hell up Mr. “blow me” on Twitter where your own wife says to block you because you’re masturbating in the bathroom to a photo of someone you don’t know is a woman Mr. 5 time DUI. At some point Donna will resist being bruised by a falling can of beans and kick your sorry ass to the curb.

        • Vern Nelson attacks Lori, then his own wife (poor woman) publically rages on Gina Clayton Tarvin and how she uses her alcoholic husband to run stories about her. THEN Vern’s wife (poor woman!) recently posts that he is STILL drinking and in the bathroom jerking off to photos of Facebook women AFTER he verbally assaulted ANOTHER woman on line. Sad that Donna has to mop up after this trainwreck waste of a human being, but that Vern throws her under the train for his own rancid behavior surely secures his space in hell. Dan, can the judges be made aware of Vern’s drinking (Donna’s admission as evidence) so that maybe he can get tossed back in jail where he belongs?

        While Nelson is the sole owner of the account, he and his wife, Anaheim activist Donna Acevedo-Nelson, confirmed that they both accessed the OJ Blog’s Twitter that evening. At first glance, the messages to @Autre_Vierge appear to be written by two different authors, but it’s impossible to say with absolute certainty who said what, or even who started it. One of the final messages she received was, “He is masturbating to women’s pictures in the bathroom.” Her profile picture was posted on the OJ Blog’s Twitter an hour later.

        When asked for an explanation, Nelson said his wife “went crazy” because she thought he was “flirting” with @Autre_Vierge when he replied to a thread, “You are certainly my guide to the Twitterverse.” @Autre_Vierge did not respond to the tweet, tag him anywhere in the thread, or reply to any of his direct messages.

        One of the blog’s followers confronted Nelson in a message the next morning, and received an emotional voicemail from Acevedo-Nelson on the afternoon of Easter Sunday. In it, she said she didn’t know who had posted the picture because “we’re not Twitter people” and added, “I don’t want [Vern] to feel bad, that he’s a bad person or anything. It’s just his drinking that’s bad.” There was a deeper voice in the background during the call, which seemed to prompt her when she paused.

    • It’s Fathers Day weekend. I haven’t looked at anything since Friday night. I haven’t blacklisted Kathy Chance. Just approved Fred’s comment but not the second one filed under a different name. Like you, Jack’s whitelisted. I have better things to do over this weekend than look in on the blog.

      And as what is and isn’t ok to talk about to a woman, I know you tweeted a demand for oral sex to a woman on Twitter, called a bunch of women involved with the HB Desal plant “whores” and defended most of the vile comments uttered by Fitzgerald from Anaheim Home over the years.

  7. What about those who dont “respect [him] and have been impacted?” Where’s their apology? My wife is a breast cancer survivor who underwent a double mastectomy. As a resident of this councilman’s district, she was completely horrified and has absolutely ZERO respect for anyone directing words like that at any woman. Where’s her apology!?

    • What does your wife’s breast cancer have to do with anything. Is Jordan supposed to apologize because she had an operation?

      • This councilman thought it appropriate to direct a quote from his mother about mutilating a woman’s chest while referring to his female colleague as a “C….” we take great offense to these actions. It is not ok to speak about women that way especially since so many must face the very real consequences of breast cancer and then have to further endure that their councilman and his mother seem to enjoy referencing mutilation of that part of women’s bodies as some disquisting and twisted way to insult them. If you can’t make the correlation don’t take my word for it, maybe you should join that councilman for a visit to a local Cancer Center and talk to some of the women undergoing scary, life-changing, mastectomies every day to hear first-hand how words like those might make them feel… Or maybe, since you seem to prefer trolling your own comment section more than following up on your articles, you’d prefer we do it for you and report our results to the city council directly?         • Fred — I lost several family members to cancer and have two more who are at Stage 4; I don’t need a lecture from you on this disease. And lecture me all you want; you’re the one who keeps coming back.           In Huntington Beach’s liberal Facebook forum, one regular poster has harassed multiple women, once going so far as to purchase a URL using a woman’s name and design a website which stated in big, bold letters, “[Name Redacted] is an Imbecile.” Another of his victims wrote to me, “I’m nervous and upset to the point that I don’t want to even speak anonymously about this person for fear of reprisal… His aggressive private messages to me after an innocuous political comment were troubling enough that I’m considering reporting to local authorities.”

          His friend and co-blogger Greg Diamond tells a strikingly different story. In a comment on Liberal OC, Diamond admitted, “Vern’s problem with women was that he was lecherous, bad at monogamy, and relatively forward in being willing to make advances, which some women found creepy.” With friends like these, who needs enemies?

          This statement was intended to defend Nelson’s honor after he was accused of sexual assault in 2017. Nelson vehemently denies the allegations, and used his platform to smear his accuser’s name. The grudge lingers: in a January comment on one of my articles, he called her “the evil little fuck.”

The Eli Home does not possess, process, or create medical records of any kind. Therefore, they are incapable of any HIPAA violation for any individual. No one from Eli Home told me anything about Donna’s black eye; only that you hung out there and staff thought you were creepy and urged Donna not to give you the time of day. Additionally , you clearly don’t understand what HIPPA is. Lastly, as you your “alleged” drinking, shall I transcribe you wife’s voice mail where she admits you are?
