The Liberal OC received two phone calls early this afternoon from two sources who found us on Google. These sources are close to Washington DC staffers of newly-minted CA-48 Congresswoman Michelle Steel (who’s offices close at 6PM EST) and both have indicated that DC-based staffers of Steel will be receiving COVID19 vaccines next week.
Calls to staffers of other OC Congressional reps have gone unreturned.
Senators Lindsay Graham, Marco Rubio and Jony Ernst were widely criticized to appearing at Super Spreader events like Trump rallies and generally downplaying the Virus, yet jumped to the front of the line for the Vaccine. If true, the Steel staffers represent among the first congressional staffers to get the vaccine.
Oddly enough, being a MAGA-hat-wearing-pandemic-denier Congresswoman is COVID19 positive. From OC Breeze:
This morning I learned I had been in contact with an individual who tested positive for COVID-19. I have no symptoms, but out of an abundance of caution received a test through the Office of the Attending Physician this afternoon and tested positive. At the advice of the Attending Physician, and to protect the health of my colleagues, I will be quarantining.
We’ve left messages for Steel’s office for comment. The sources were angry the staffers are getting vaccines ahead of healthcare professionals and older Americans at risk. Steel herself poses the biggest threat of a COVID19 staff infection – pun intended.
