

SANTA ANA – Santa Ana Planning Commission Chairman and former Rancho Santiago Community College District Board Member Mark McLoughlin announced his intention today to run for North Santa Ana’s open Ward 3 City Council seat this November.
The 29-year North Santa Ana resident and former Floral Park Neighborhood Association President also announced support from 81 Santa Ana city commissioners, neighborhood association leaders, elected officials, & community leaders who have formally endorsed his candidacy.
“North Santa Ana has a wide variety of unique issues that are not getting the full attention they deserve at the moment,” said Mark McLoughlin. “I hope to bring representation and a voice to the Santa Ana City Council that will once again prioritize our north side of town.”
McLoughlin, a longtime community leader in Santa Ana, is passionate about local neighborhood issues, educating the city’s youth, and maintaining the vibrancy of Santa Ana’s business community. He brings over 30 years of experience as a business executive for a variety of Fortune 500 companies and startups, specializing in strategic planning, cost reduction, and contract negotiations.
His experience in the Santa Ana community is extensive. Besides presently serving as Chairman of the City’s Planning Commission and past President of the Floral Park Neighborhood Association, he has served as Co-Chair of both the Santa Ana Unified School District’s successful Measure G Bond Election Committee and the School District’s Citizens School Bond Oversight Committee, Vice President of the Santa Ana Redevelopment Citizens Bond Oversight Committee, as an appointee to the School District’s Budget Reallocation Committee, and as a member of Santa Ana’s Historic Resource Commission.
Today he serves as President of the High School Inc. Academies Foundation – a unique partnership of the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce and the Santa Ana Unified School District focusing on empowering youth and strengthening our community through education and business collaborations. He also is Vice President of the Santa Ana College Foundation, Chair of the Foundation’s Public/Private Partnership Committee, and a member of the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, a position he has held for the last 11 years.
For his leadership, McLoughlin has been honored as a recipient of the City of Santa Ana’s Neighborhood Hero Award, the Floral Park Legacy Award, the Spirit of Volunteerism Award for community service, and the OneOC Giving is Living Award for his work with the High School Inc. Academies. He and his wife Janelle, who presently serves as Chief Financial Officer for the Santa Ana Public Schools Foundation, reside today in the same North Santa Ana neighborhood they have lived in for the last 29 years.
